Drive & Win—SGI Urges New Drivers to Practice
March 1, 2010
Young or new drivers in Saskatchewan have an extra incentive for practicing their left-hand turns or parking skills. SGI is offering new drivers who complete a “practice log” the chance to win cash. Those who record their driver education practice outings into a driving journal known as a “practice log” throughout the year are eligible.
This year’s new drivers must submit their practice logs—with 36 hours completed--to their examiner at their road test, or through the mail.
“The practice log incentive program encourages all learner drivers to gain the valuable driving experience they need prior to trying for their licence,” June Draude, the minister responsible for SGI said in a statement on the program. “History shows us that learner drivers with more in-car experience develop safer driving habits.”
SGI has awarded 10 new drivers—drawn from practice log submissions-- a $250 gas card as part of the 2009 incentive program.
