ICBC Reviews Toyota Claims

March 1, 2010

The Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC) is in the midst of a sweeping review of Toyota vehicles involved in recent recalls.

The public insurer is going over all claims that involve the recalled models, an ICBC spokesman told CBC.ca March 1. At present, only a handful—about 20—ICBC customers have asked for a review, but the insurer will look at all claims that may have involved floor mat or gas pedal issues, CBC.ca reports.

If those issues caused accidents, the insurer has not ruled out legal action, according to ICBC spokesman Jan Vrem.
